The Lost City Of Heracleion

Heracleion, also known as Thonis, was an ancient Egyptian city near Alexandria whose ruins are located in Abu Qir Bay, submerged in 150 feet of water. Its legendary beginnings go back to as early as the 12th century BC, and it is mentioned by ancient Greek historians. Its importance grew especially during the waning days of the Pharaohs—the late period, when it was Egypt's main port for international trade and collection of taxes.

I have see other footage about the underwater discovery of this city but their findings are still fairly basic. I also watch a lot of archeological documentaries and they took a lot images from other sites including the images that aren't even ancient like the modern underwater sculptures from off the coast of Mexico. The also showed statues that were found in Tutankhamen's tomb which I have seen in person with my own eyes. This is a fascinating discovery that doesn't need to be sensationalises. Please share real facts!!

this discovery and these artifacts are absolutely stunning on their own.
why have you injected photos from the Underwater Museum of Cancun that are modern and have nothing to do with Thonis/Heracleion? It is very misleading.

Truly amazing what ancient peoples were capable of. We can’t even replicate half the stuff the carved thousands of years ago with modern tools it’s wild !!! I just found out about this city and I’m already hooked on finding out more about it.

A sunken egyptian town just off the coast from Alexandria which to be honest has been a centerpoint of archaelogical reseaech for some time and we find it only in 2000. Makes you wonder what else is hiding under the sea.

Some images are of Thonis but others are not. At 8:53 mins in the image is of the Yonaguni Monument off the coast of Japan. Which may or may not be man made.

Could someone explain how is that possible that the two pieces of paper haven't been totally destroyed in the water?

It's fascinating that ancient Chinese ruins were also found among all the Egyptian ones. Were there also some Meso American artifacts ?

The video looks like a mixture of everything found under and above water around the world, not just in Heracleion. With even some modern photos (e.g. the mermaid) also mixed in.  What a hoax.

I noticed a few images weren't factual. Fu dogs are from the Asian culture and I also saw some Mexican/Aztec. Though the video was interesting to watch.

Yeah a lot of these pics are from Atlantis, the theme park resort in the Bahamas . They have underwater statues all over meant to look old. Also most of these are from Alexandria . It’s not the video makers fault though these images come up when you search for real photos

Ancient Egypt always fascinates me. But I saw a sculpture that appeared to be of Asian origin/design, & other inconsistencies as well...
