I believe it... We don’t know what’s all in the oceans! Just like we don’t know everything in the forests!

I believe it. We know more about our solar system than we do about our own oceans. It’s insane to me that there are depths that we can’t physically explore due to water pressure, but despite that we know that sea life can flourish in the darkest, murkiest depths we’ve been able to explore so far. To me, that just proves that our oceans are home to all kinds of aquatic creatures, including those that are possibly prehistoric and otherworldly.

These tales reminded me of the Creature from the Black Lagoon. I read that the movie got it's inspiration from local tribes who told tales of a fish like species called the River People. Makes you wonder what they really saw those days.

Dammit please don’t tease us like that. Consider doing a compilation of just mermaid stories. I absolutely love stories about encounters with mermaids. I don’t even care if it surpasses 3hrs long… I’ll listen to it at night while I’m in bed.🧜‍♀️

Lots of mermaid/merman stories in the Philippines as well. I would ask all the islanders and fisherman if they seen any shokoy/syokoy(the mermen) when I've been back and forth there.

Edit: lots of river mermaids/mermen sightings too.

I believe in mermaids and also that they’re not how Hollywood paints them, but they’re creatures. They eat and kill to survive

Maybe that’s why it’s rare for sharks to attack humans, but will attack seals.
Sharks know the difference too.

The ocean is not always kind especially if you are expected to live in the deepest darkest parts of the oceans. Just as evolution of a specific species isn't always pretty.

Always preferred the idea of creepy and horror versions of mermaids, forest spirits, etc to the disney versions. Except for POC, the mermaids were properly horror like there.
