We’ll walk you through the reasons why we’d consider returning the Vision Pro if we weren’t reviewing it for the long term, the best immersive and magical experiences we’ve had with it, the eye fatigue and headaches we’ve experienced, productivity and pairing it with a Mac, a look at spatial photos, videos, Apple’s own Immersive Videos, what watching a movie in Vision Pro is like plus the quirks and downsides we’ve run into with it so far.

Great synopsis of your early impressions, Josh. I really like the idea of you doing more videos like this. Reviewing products after 6 months, in my opinion, means you're giving us way better input as you've used the product for a much longer time than most reviewers would. However, it also means you're usually the last to put out a review, so I really appreciate hearing your early thoughts.

Most useful review I’ve seen of the Apple Vision Pro

I will not be returning mine. It is exactly what I have been looking for. Basic media consumption and Internet.

I want to note something that I'm noticing... A lot of people returning it also are pretty open about the fact that they have very active lives that require a lot of attention to other things like kids and a partner or such. For myself I live alone, have no partner and no kids all by choice. I HEAVILY value my alone time and tailor my non-working hours to being alone. Vision Pro is INCREDIBLE for someone like me who can literally tune the world out even more and just "go away" for a while and consume what I want... I can't help but feel that people who are returning it are doing so because they are constantly pulled away from it (or anything like it) do to family things or needing their attention elsewhere, and thus since they aren't immersed, their opinion gradually goes down.

It's not a catch all device, and let's face it it's basically a really expensive public beta. However, I love it. I love the immersion and quickly got use to the controls. My only REAL gripe right now is the lack of official apps, but I feel that's gonna come with time.

I appreciate your balanced review. I have a Vision Pro and for me going up to a larger sized light shield made my experience so much more comfortable. I went from having discomfort after about an hour or two to being able to wear it for 10 hours with no problems. So maybe trying the larger sized light shield that it recommended for you with Zeiss lenses would be worth a shot.

Take care and thanks for the great content!

Definitely one of the best reviews of the AVP I’ve seen, and love the ‘6 months later’ ethos. Subscribed!

That red faced look I remember getting when I had my Quest 1 as that was a heavy bit of kit on the front of my face, hopefully some 3rd party companies with come up with a fix for this, what ever people may say about the Quest 3 if you put an elite strap on it you can wear it all day and not feel discomfort

I like your point about the “iPad like lockdown” that is my biggest reservation since I have never been able to use the iPad for work due to so many limitations (no command line, windowing limitations, no side loading eg so many Mac apps that are not in the store but are well known applications need for my work could be the same for iPad). Thanks!

Excellent, unbiased review as we have come to expect from you Josh! I would humbly request a 3 month review of this product on the way to the six month review.

I imagine the 3D spatial videos can be great for seeing loved ones who passed away.
At the same time, having lost my mum last year, this might just break my heart
and I don't think this is what I need. I even avoid watching the pictures who are still on my phone.
I prefer just to think about her and "see" her in my head with my memory. Make sense?

Spatial video sounds wild. I’d like to try that.

Excellent 2-week review, and your experiences largely match my own. However, at 3:20 you mention that you can't move the mouse cursor from the Mac Virtual Desktop (MVD) into any of the floating visionOS windows, but you actually can! It changes over to the iPadOS-style "circle" pointer, but it does work (and it's uncanny how the integrated systems can handle going to windows that are above or below the MVD, and not just left or right). I know that I needed to re-enable Universal Control on my own Mac to get it to work, so that may be the case for you, too. On your Mac, go into System Settings → Displays → Advanced... and make sure at least the first two switches under "Link to Mac or iPad" are enabled. That should allow you to use Universal Control for the mouse and keyboard between the MVD and visionOS windows.

I’m happy with my Vision Pro and hesitated only slightly with the price. I do wxpext the price to rise for higher end versions as it did for the iPhone. But I imagine people will be happier to buy at the higher prices in a few years ($4 to $6K) simply because the features will be so much more expanded out by then.

Because the recording doesn’t accurately show your FOV I feel like reviewers should add it in and leave it for the whole video to be more genuine.

Only one thing that I like about this video is instead of saying spatial computer but spatial iPad

I ended up velcroing a htc vive 3rd party face cushion on my light seal and I have much less pressure on the 2 spots below my eyes. Apple’s cushions suck. They’re way too firm and narrow around the bottom of your eyes. I’m hoping enough people stick with it so that third-party people will start cranking out much better headgear. it’s not that much heavier compared to other VR headset, Apple just went with looks overcomfort.

Probably gonna wait until the technology improves, it’s lighter, has more features, and is cheaper.

I’m surprised you couldn’t get your Mac’s trackpad to go between Vision Pro apps and your Mac. I’ve had no real issues doing that with the past week or so I’ve had the device.

Wouldnt most of those problems be fixed with a couple of updates?
