Great video! Having the right board for the surf is something I completely underestimated. I had a 6’2” glazer. It had enough volume but I think the shape was all wrong for me and the waves I was surfing. Now I have a 5’8” seaside that works great if it’s got a little more power and a 6’2” sweet potato for the really mushy stuff.

BRO... you nailed every aspect of the Fish perfectly.
Age 75, been surfing Florida waves since age 11 in 1961. Fish is my choice 90% of the time.

I bought the seaside on your advice and I have never looked back. It has pretty much been the only board I’ve ridden for the last 3 months. Thanks bro 🤙

Thanks for all the great info about how beneFISHial it is to get a fish! I'm looking to upgrade from my Wavestorm 5'6 Original New Modern Swallow Tail which has been a bit of a struggle when the waves are fat, small and mushy. Super fun for barrel-hunting on bigger days, but those are less common at the beach break I surf. Just trying to figure out what dimensions would make sense for me in a fish model. I'm 5' 10" and 183lbs, intermediate level, been surfing about 10 years vacation-style, so only about a month of the year I get to surf daily. I did a ton of skateboarding growing up, so you mentioning that fish boards feel loose like a skateboard is attractive. Twin setup sounds great. What dimensions would you suggest? Thanks!

Thanks for the videos and tuts
I have a 5’9 seaside which I do enjoy
I have been using Machado quad set
Have you tried any other fin sets ? Either twin like a AMK or maybe a different quad set ?
Thx

Some cool moves you’re pulling on that thing, would be interested to see how you’d look on a board with a bit more length, , , ?

Hi, I'm a good beginner surfer that uses every opportunity to travel to surf sites given the fact that we don't have the possibility to surf in my country. Your videos and surfskating ease the waiting period in between. Have you already done or plan to do a video on picking surfboards depending on the surfer's lvl and size? I know it's not an easy task, but this problem seemd a bit overwhelming. For example, I'm 6 feet and 75 kg, what length and buoyancy of fish would you recommentd? Keep up the great work :)

Can we say the same thing for fish/hybrid models? I have a Channel Island Joe 5”11 pretty thick surfboard?

Hey Ryan, thanks for another great post. What's your experience of mail order boards? Do they arrive undamaged, no dings? Is this risky?

Hi Ryan, I'm an intermediate surfer: wich volume and length of a retro fish should be right for me? (168 cm - 60 kg - small waves). Thanks

Hey Ryan, I’ve been learning to surf for about 18 months riding an 8 foot EPS single fin and would like to move down to a fish shape soon. I am 6’2 and 95kg, what size do you think I should get a fish shaped board in? Something around my height or should I add a few inches and get something like a 6’4/6’6 fish shaped board with 45-50L of volume?

I don't even bother with a high performance shortboard anymore, too fat and not good enough. I rather have more speed = more fun!

What does he mean when he describes the section as fat??
