This was a terrible explanation of ranked choice voting. how it really works if no one gets 50 % of the vote, the candidate in last place is eliminated. Everyone who had the eliminated candidate as their first choice has their vote recast to their next available choice. The votes are re-tabulated to see if anyone received 50% of the vote. If not the next round is just like the first with the votes being recast for the voters who lost their candidate due to elimination

Why do all of the ads that are for voting yes on this only mention the primary part of the initiative and don't mention anything about ranked choice?

My MIL tried to read the blue book explanation and was extremely confused, and we even tried having our HS sophomore explain it to her, and she still didn't understand it.

Vote NO on Colorado Proposition 131.
This explanation left out several key facts. It only applies to a few elected offices, so there will still be a Party specific Primary Ballot.
Ranked Choice Voting does not solve any problems. We do not do Run-off Elections, so why would we need Instant Run-off?

Ranked choice voting means if your first pick doesn't immediately get the majority, they put your vote toward people you don't want to elect, that's it.

It sounds good in theory but it's a poorly written mess. Vote No.
