Secrets of the Timbuktu Manuscripts: An Intellectual Oasis

Показать описание
Timbuktu was once a bustling hub of learning. From the 13th to the 16th centuries, it hosted a university. Scholars from as far as Cairo and Baghdad flocked here, drawn by its collection of hundreds of thousands of manuscripts on subjects ranging from astronomy, chemistry, and mathematics to law. These manuscripts are a treasure trove of African history, though many are now at risk of deterioration.

The reason most of the manuscripts in Timbuktu were written in Arabic was because the original Arabs where actually black Africans. The Berbers, the Moors, and the original Arabs were all black Africans and the Arabic language which they wrote has roots in African languages. Classical Arabic is similar to biblical Hebrew (they both sound alike and they both have many words that mean the same thing) and biblical Hebrew has roots in many African languages.

Excellent work. My interest in Mali and their manuscripts had already, made me visit the archive online. It was difficult to navigate, and not much material for review at that time. I hope we as a community can start a fund/trust to collect and build a modern museum/structure to house those treasures in timbuktu as mansa musa originally commissioned.

The Mali/Songhai empire have a very great history. It is also my favorite history, with Nubia/Kemet a close second as you probably already know. As a descendant of this fascinating history, I've created in a particular video game (I love video games. There my passion.) the culture and history of the Mali/Songhai empire, and copied there architecture with a few twists. I've done the same with the Nubia/Kemet architecture also. As a Sofa (warrior), I approve this FBA all the way, Yera💧.

I find it so fascinating, interesting, amazing, fabulous, very exciting, extraordinary, mind blowing, off the charts, estonishinig, profound, out of this world, how the Europeans attempted to erase all history from the minds of Africans and those who have African descendants, and now knowledge is not expanding. It is as though a Spirit is hovering over the earth and allowing the original Chosen to know thyself. It is as though data and information are creeping through the cracks and making itself known. This information is so highly intelligent and above everything else. Not even the Europeans can give information with so much data on this level. It has been hidden even from them as they attempted to hide it. Only Yah, the Living God, The Creator can bring this forth. Praise Him!!!

It was a complete Black Civilization. Arabs had nothing to do with the manuscripts. Thanks for sharing.

When I was a child. I would hear people joke, as far as Timbuktu. I didn’t know it was a real place, till years later. Interesting I later found out, 8% of my DNA is from Mali.

It shows proven undeniable truth that the King of Mali was the Richest man to ever live on earth still to the present day 2024 A.D. No one has ever matched passed his wealth and his character shows what he valued between the Wealth/worldly power or obedience to God n love of his people. This true history was purposely kept away from Western World Education but no matter the time the truth will always come to light

Completely unrelated to the content but the narrator sounds **exactly** like Joshua Graham and I love it

Would like to know more of the history of how Arabic became the Lingua Francas of Mali for learning & trade..Was it about them being conjured by the Arabian people, or was it a strategy, becoming Muslim , but still keeping a lots of the African spirituality & becomes Muslims mystics , which is called Sufism..How about doing a video on African Sufis ..

Thank goodness those 250, 000 manuscripts were saved from being destroyed! Its sad how the tragedy of losing the knowledge the library of Alexandria was almost repeated by the Talibans efforts to destroy the wealth of ancient knowledge.

I'm always amazed. How the West say African never wrote anything down Africans? Could not read or write
Why is it European? Never go back to their land and dig, but they always dig it in Africa.
