This is an error that is shown in a Linux system which can be shown due to several reasons. This video shows how the error was caused/fixed by reviewing the storage size of the Linux partition.

FIRST STEP: 1:06 Insert a bootable USB (with Ubuntu installed), start machine and boot to this USB - then you will be presented with the GRUB screen as shown in the video.

Note this is a dual boot system - Windows 10 and Linux Ubuntu

I realised the reason this happened in my device was because of the storage(it was very less). So what I did is open linux in recovery mode(by advanced ubuntu options) and then use clean option and resume. Then the login password option came and after logging in I deleted the extra stuff and cleared some space by using the disk usage analysis. Rn it looks like it is working okay. Just make sure you keep your storage right. It is easy to manipulate storage in linux

I had this problem but it was not a full disk storage issue. I used the installation USB with the "Try Ubuntu" option, went to disks and repaired the filesystem on the main partition. This solved it.

There is actually an alternative solution without using the USB approach:
Enter GRUB mode (with Esc and Spacebar) and start in the advanced options the recovery mode. There you can delete unnecessary files as the root user and reboot

In my case, I needed to remove my windows space, so I formatted it to ext4 and then increased the space on linux drive. Pretty cool. Thanks

Fantastic, thanks! Although for me I don’t have sub-partitions, so I just shrunk my Windows partition and grew my Ubuntu partition in two steps.

Thanks a lot. This proved to be extremely useful for saving the system I was using for my work.

My linux partition has 427GB of unused space and I don't have a windows partition from where I can take space... the linux partition already uses all of it. help?

My screen is frozen on that black menu, I don't know what to do, it just doesn't close. It says Ubuntu: clean (numbers) files, (numbers) blocks

You haven't showed you to merge that free space to the ubuntu partition you've just showed the process doin it.

How do you merge unallocated partition into the existing sda partition? My pc shows only to decrease partition size not increase it, let alone merge them. Please help.

Quick question. Would this problem be solved if I could allocate more space to the Ubuntu partition via the windows GUI?
