I have been an Executive Housekeeping Manager.
1) you knock loud enough for guest to hear nice and clear . 3 good door knocks.
This is in case they cannot hear you.
2) Announce yourself
3) We do not knock occupied rooms until after check out time.
4) Housekeeping need to clean rooms for the night arriving guests.
My hospitality experience is over 25 years in name brand hotels. I started in Los Angeles, Ca.

So this is what I do 😊 I knock on the door twice and I open the door slowly to make sure nobody is in the room. Sometimes when its super loud I do 2 more knocks because you never know. 😊
