Rushing floodwaters prompt evacuations in Oak Creek

More evacuations were ordered Wednesday morning in the Sedona area

Thirty or more years ago we had another major storm, flood and evacuation like this. The flood waters gushed in the front door of homes on low lying areas and out the back door, leaving 6 feet or more of mud. The familiar terrain of Oak Creek was so changed, it was unrecognizable. Amazing and powerful.

I was in Sedona last week, Oak and Beaver Creek were flowing hard.

Oak Creek has 13, 000 cfs. The Colorado River through the canyon has between 8, 0000 and 11, 000 cfs just for reference.

Wild...I was there and in Beaver creek near the picnic area swimming this past summer..can't believe how much it has rained! I did pray for rain...guess it helped!

Knew someone long ago that lived real close to Oak Creek south of Sedona. Big flood had just came thru, in the 80’s, and lots of bank collapsed . They were getting very worried.

It's terrible but it's a blessing in disguise please tell all the engineers to quickly Harvest this water
