Summer heat can often lead to dehydration.

If you are not drinking enough, you may get dehydrated.

And dehydration can increase your risk for hypertension.

According to Aventura Cardiologist Leonard Pianko MD, "Dehydration causes our body to release a hormone called vasopressin which causes your blood vessels to narrow. That causes your blood pressure to go up."

People with high blood pressure are also at a higher risk of experiencing dehydration though the reason is unclear.

Yep. I’m a witness. As soon as I drunk a Gatorade with no sugar it went down. People think salt cause hypertension but it don’t.
