What I started doing this year in Jan is saving $1, 000 a month for the entire year, for my vacation fund and an additional $200 a month towards my emergency fund.

I then picked a country that I want to go to where my dollar will stretch further and go within the time where it will be less busy and inexpensive. After that, I take half of my vacation fund and put the other half into my emergency savings fund.

So in total, I will saved $12, 000 a year for my vacation fund, minus $6, 000 of that to go into my emergency savings fund, plus I saved an additional $2, 400 from my emergency savings fund, which gives me a total of $8, 400 that I saved for the entire year, along with being able to go on a international vacation trip for the year.

In all honesty, it takes discipline to save money and make sure that you understand basic economics of the “Need Vs Want” concept. That is what helped me to save money and budget well.
