Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2021 Jeep Wrangler unlimited, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Demco Stay-IN-Play supplemental braking system. But before we do that, let's check it out and make sure that this is gonna be the right kit for you. So there's gonna be a total of five main components that you're gonna need. First one is gonna be the base plate. What that's gonna do, is provide us with a solid and reliable attachment point.

That way we can hook our tow bar up to it. And the tow bar is gonna be that second component. And this is gonna be the physical link that actually connects the back of your motor home to the front of your Jeep. The third main component is going to be safety cables, and these are pretty straightforward. These are there in the event of an unlikely disconnect.

These are gonna keep your vehicle and your motor home paired together. The fourth main component is going to be tow bar wiring. And what this is gonna do is transfer the lighting signals from the back of your coach to the back of your vehicle, keeping it not only safe but legal as well. And last but not least, the fifth main component, is going to be a supplemental braking system. And what this is gonna do is apply the brakes in your vehicle whenever you hit the brakes in your RV, helping to bring you to a more complete and predictable stop.

There are a couple more additional components that are not absolutely necessary, but ones I'd definitely look into and really consider picking up. One of them is what's called a charge line. And what that's gonna do, is essentially maintain or trickle charge your Jeep's battery whenever you're flat towing it behind your motor home. And you'll need that because what happens, your supplemental braking system draws power from your Jeep's battery whenever it's being used, and so to replenish that juice, in your battery, that's where the charge line comes in, it keeps everything topped off and gives you a little bit more confidence, knowing for one, the braking system is gonna operate flawlessly, because it has the power it needs, and for two, whenever you disconnect, you're gonna be able to start up the Jeep and not have to fight it, trying to get a jump box or jumper cables and things like that. So it just helps smooth everything out.

Another thing I would consider is what's called a stoplight switch and right off the top of my head, that's something you really only need with two braking systems that I can think of like I said right at the top of my head. One of them being the Stay-IN-Play supplemental braking system, as well as the InvisiBrake. And you need that because those systems use what's called an indicator light, which turns on whenever the brake pedal in your Jeep is being pushed down from the braking system. And that's gonna give you accurate information by using that stoplight switch. Whenever you see that indicator light turn on, that's going to let you know that, hey, the brake pedal in there is actually being pushed down and moving and doing what it should. So when it comes to breaking systems, a lot of times those are components people don't even really realize or think they need until they experience towing a vehicle without the braking system. It can get a little nerve wracking, a heavy vehicle behind the motor home and just solely relying on your motor home to slow everything down. And having a braking system, what it's gonna do is apply the brakes whenever you hit the brakes in your Jeep and kind of slow down as one cohesive unit. But that said, when it comes to picking out a braking system, I feel like a lot of people can get confused pretty quick. I know I was when I first kind of got into setting up flat tows and things like that, it was a lot to take in and a lot to try to figure out and understand. So, before we get too in depth about this particular system, why don't we just kind of make sure that this will even work for you in the first place So I like to always kind of recommend three different options or solutions. This is one of them. The Stay-IN-Play is probably my top pick for a permanent type breaking system. As long as your motor home has hydraulic brakes. So good old classic hydraulic brakes. These are really reliable. I have done well over 20 of these braking systems now, and a lot of the other guys here at etrailer as well. We see a lot of them and we have a lot of good luck with them and they're simple to use and easy to figure out once you have everything installed, that's really important. You don't want to spend a bunch of time on some complicated d
