96. Asking Without Understanding - Mark 10:35-38

"And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire. And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you? They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory. But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" - Mark 10:35-38

Jesus is no genie-in-a-bottle. You can't just rub the religious lamp and ask Jesus to grant you whatever you wish for. It doesn't work that way.

The reason you can’t do that is because God is our loving Father and we are His very small little children. He who knows the end from the beginning. He knows what we need even when we don't. And He knows how to work in every situation, so that good will triumph in the end.

Think about an unanswered prayer of yours. Could the reason be that you didn't know what you were asking?
