You are very clear with your explanations. This solved my issue and gave me a head's up about the blanks! Great instructional video!

OMG…. I was losing my mind, I knew I had sorted in the past with no problem concerning my header. I didn’t think anything about the extra column might added, and having nothing there causing the problem. Thank you so much.

I have no blank space and I tried the second step to click "my data has header rows" but its greyed out for me and I cant click it. So I bolded my header row, centered it so it was "different: b/c mine was the circumstance that it was all text, and it STILL included the header row in sorting so now I'm lost. I even unformatted it ( it was a fancy blue table ) I made it plain as day and it still did it no matter what approach I'm taking. AND when I made a new blank plain table I went and selected the cells to sort and it said it found data and wanted to expand the cells. Idk Im just trying to make a customer from. Its from Columns A-M . Column A is labeled "customer" the rest are the months Jan-Dec. I'm trying sales per customers for the month. So simple, yet this sorting thing has to be stupind.

What I am looking for is how to PERMANENTLY turn off the "My data has headers" button. I NEVER use the headings option because a lot of the time I don't even have headings. I always use with the header button unclicked and just go by the column letters. Some of these programs are a bit TOO helpful (in annoying ways).

Hi Mike, what if your headers are more than one row?
