Top 10 Artifact Items in DnD 5E

Now artifact is the highest level rarity of items in the game, it is a good chance you won't ever see in artifact while playing an average game, or your whole campaign can be about just obtaining a single artifact. With that in mind, there aren't very many official ones in the game, but there are enough to talk about the 10 best nonetheless.

The Invulnerable Chain Mail of Arnd was a goal for one of my friends way back in the day. It’s a blue-tinted chain vest that gives you immunity to most damage types but compels you to give up everything you own to the needy, until eventually, you give up the armor itself.

50% chance to grow a full beard is a downside? That is a blessing my dude.

Fun fact: crook of rao (the demon summoning thing you mentioned) will summon a little more than 94 million demons in total by the end of the 18 year lifespan of the portal. That's alotta demons! Lol

The reason artifact weapons and items don't toss you great damage is because they are normally meant for specific content set up by the DM. The sword of Kas from the Vecna series being a great one as the only thing that can kill Vecna or cut off his hand is Kas.

Never have got to play D&D but it's still one of my top 3 favorite universes in terms of lore. Keep up the great work Hiru and editors!

When you were talking about he book of exalted deeds, you didn't mention the fact that if an evil aligned character attempts to read it, the book will fucking laser them.
(A fact I learned the hard way, when I tried to read the weird golden book the Paladin was carrying)

I would say the mech suit is more effective if you have cohorts of some kind. Generally, they will be at a lower level, and if they are proven comrades who won't betray you, then you essentially have another PC level character in the group instead of an NPC level character.

Easy way to not get possed by demons in the book.
Store it in a pocket dimension, you know, like the bag of holding

if an item, feature, etc. says you can cast a spell as an action, the casting time is, in fact, one action, no matter what the spell's stated casting time is. This is RAW&I and has been confirmed as such. For example, the main benefit of the Wish spell is that it lets you cast any spell 8th level or lower, ignoring its components, in six seconds.

Man, in a campaign made by friends that i was "documentating" but as a spectator, the DM allowed the resident paladin of the party(a oath of the ancients user, and a very competent one) to use Zariel Sword against Zariel herself. It ended in a epic battle and the paladin, in his last life points(less than 100) rolled almost the maximum damage using banishing smite and halved her life points in one single hit. It was nothing short of a spetacular moment

"While charmed you go on a destructive rampage destroying objects and structures nearby"
I am piloting a mech suit, so pretty much if this thing goes under 50% hit points, I'm rolling to see if I'm continuing what I've been doing so far?

I use the sword of KAS on a necromancy flavored character I played like 2 years ago based off the horned king and what king lacks a sword my DM allowed me to build a zombie are my it was glorious. I got to a silly high number of zombies.

So, for the book Demonomicon of Iggwily, just put it in a bag of holding each time you long rest so that it is in a different plane and it's demons can't possess you? Seems great!

The Book of Exalted Deeds seems like it might be a nice thing to give to a character who really wants to commit to the path of helping others at all costs, maybe even early on if you cut back on some of the bonuses(or make it so as they grow in their power they can grow into some of the stronger bonuses). It would probably be really, really hard to balance especially in balancing what the other players might get so they aren't left out, but I think it goes to show that artifact items can make for really good story and rp opportunities even if they aren't that strong.

Sword of Kass seems like an amazing item to give to a Pact of the blade Warlock that isn't hexblade XD

For people who are wondering why would artifacts be better then legendary items, if you leave your material plane amd travel to any other plane your +3 weapons of magic items lose that, while artifacts cannot be dispeled or lose their property

15:45 I feel like you haven't given enough credit to the thousand deaths. You basically get an infinite better vampiric touch (which is already an awesome spell btw) as long as you're decent at martial combat. The downside really doesn't matter. With the free hand the bite attack leaves you, you can hold a parasol and eat your fill. Oh, and if a monk gets it, they pretty much are unstoppable, especially as a drunken master.

I really want the teeth in the campaign I'm currently in, there really isn't anything too terrible outside of maybe option 12. everything else is great to ok to not great but little to no downside. with 16 Con (which current rogue-lock has) you get 4 teeth and yeah, not everything is great, but I like the risk involved without possibility of insta killing yourself and there are some wonderful standouts on that list. Way more than the terrible downsides.
