CLOSE UPS: Ένα πιάτο Ιζνίκ | An Iznik dish

Στο επεισόδιο αυτό της σειράς, η Μίνα Μωραΐτου, Επιμελήτρια του Μουσείου Ισλαμικής Τέχνης, μας παρουσιάζει ένα σπάνιο οθωμανικό κεραμικό πιάτο Ιζνίκ ή Νίκαιας με ελληνική επιγραφή, μία ιδιαίτερη παραγγελία στην ομώνυμη πόλη της Μ. Ασίας που αποτέλεσε το κύριο κέντρο κεραμικής παραγωγής για δύο αιώνες (16ο και 17ο αιώνα).
Η σειρά CLOSE UPS ρίχνει φως σε αντικείμενα του Μουσείου Μπενάκη, τόσο μέσα από τις ιστορίες που τα ίδια αφηγούνται, όσο και από τις ιστορίες ανθρώπων που συνδέονται με αυτά. Αφηγητές στη σειρά είναι ο επιστημονικός διευθυντής και οι επιμελητές του Μουσείου και πρωταγωνιστές αντικείμενα που φιλοξενούνται στο Μουσείο Μπενάκη Ελληνικού Πολιτισμού. Η πρωτοβουλία ξεκίνησε από την επιθυμία όλων μας να βρεθούμε ξανά κοντά στο κοινό του Μουσείου Μπενάκη κατά την προσωρινή αναστολή της λειτουργίας του λόγω της πανδημίας.

In this episode of the Close Ups video series, Mina Moraitou, Curator of the Benaki Museum of Islamic Art, presents a rare dish of ottoman Iznik ceramics also called Nicaea, bearing a Greek inscription that signifies a special order given in the city of Asia Minor which was the main centre of pottery production in the 16th and 17th centuries.
The CLOSE UPS video series highlights fascinating stories behind objects at the Benaki Museum, as well as the people associated with them. In the videos of the series, hosted by the academic director and curators of the Museum, objects at the Benaki Museum of Greek Culture take center stage. It is an initiative deriving from our strong wish to remain close to the public during the museum lockdown due to the pandemic, until we meet again at the Benaki Museum.
