The Moody Blues- The Actor (Vinyl)

Just want to see how this turns out audiowise. I'm pleasantly surprised by this AT95E cartridge on this turntable after making a few more tweaks.

This garden universe vibrates fave moodies song. all this talk of cd compression has me sound is great. thanks for the post. so haunting. and the flute arrangement is otherworldly.

"In search of the lost chord" is AMAZING my #2 favorite of all time! im 16 years old so I showed this to some of my friends and they thought I was crazy for like this album so much but there beginning to like it I can tell.... haha

Great sound quality! I take it that this was "This Is The Moody Blues" greatest hits compilation released in 1974, am I right? What gave it away was the fact that this song came from "In Search Of The Lost Chord" LP on the Deram label. The first greatest hits anthology was issued on Threshold Records.

@seekah1Thanks. Glad you liked it. I've always liked these guys. Justin Hayward wrote some cool shit. This is one of his. All of 'em write and most of them are very cool. I grew up on this stuff. My uncle used to record his vinyl off his Dual turntable onto cassettes for me when I was little and I got;; Beatles (everything), Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Moody Blues. He mixed it all up. It was so cool. I'd listen to the cassettes on one of those old school flat type players. I had my own records.

@stringchild1 Understood. Totally respect them for their studio prowess, but never really got into them say like the Beach Boys or later Beatles etc. I loved JHs contribution to War of the Worlds though. Tacky I know, lol.

it makes me mad how bad new cds of old music sound. they simply compress the dynamics and reduce the noise and you end up with a flat sounding piece of crap. this version is a bit bass heavy, possibly due to eq'ing? But it still sounds more deep and real...

I have that vinyl album "This Is The Moody Blues" on Vinyl on very good quality. I love the version of watching and waiting. Not the same version on the single at all.

@irishpogi Thanks. Yes, you are correct. I also have ISOTLC on Deram. This compilation album is in such better shape than that one. My pressing of this sounds extremely good. Audiophile quality sounding pressing of a common release. Pleasant surprise for a $6 used item (vinyls are NM). I just think they did a really good job when they pressed these. Cheers :)
