Good to see you back in the saddle Sam! - you have a way of explaining things that even I can understand, much appreciated 🙂

Glad I watched this. I'm new to PFSense but have decided to switch to Opnsense, which installs a little differently from PFSense. Thank you

Saw this originally advertised in the OPNSense FB Group so was keen to see a new tutorial. I have had OPNSense running previously quite happily but never had it configured to support multiple WAN connections so if you are building on this line of videos then seeing that as a topic and also using metrics to choose which WAN connection to use would be excellent

Thank you for a solid guide. I have installed OPNsense on an old PC - intel gen 4 i5. I popped in a 4x LAN PCIe card. Although I managed to install and get OPNsense running on the machine, I am struggling to find a walk through on using the spare LAN ports for expanding my network. I am currently using an 8 port managed switch for everything. However, I wanted to utilise one of the ports for running a Flux node, to keep it separate from my main network and another for a cloud server that I can access whilst away from home.

Thank you for the detailed explanation on how to install and get the basic setup going. It would be great if you could show firewall rules for a basic set up.

At the step where you select which drive to install to, what key do you press to select the drive you want (put the * next to the drive you want)? Have tried EVERY key and can't get it.

Hi Sam. Great video. Will you be doing a OpnSense connection to BT business hub in the future? I followed your pfSense one but it did not work in OpnSense.

Staying on pfsense+ for now with a TAC-Lite sub that's not expiring until next year. I'll look at opnsense again, but find the UI a bit meh. Sophos XG Home might be a contender again. Running pfsense on ex Sophos XG Caswell hardware. Might be moving to toob in due course for internet connection, but their base package is CGNAT connected, but I think they support IPV6.

I have the same mini pc shown in this video. Did you have to make any adjustments to the BIOS? Thanks

The installer is lacking quite an important feature:
Encryption for ZFS

At around minute 5:35 you say...."I'll just get this setup"....and then the install screen shows up. What did you do to "just get this setup"? Would help beginners. Otherwise we have not idea what you did on this video. Thanks much.
