Some of it does and some isn't as expensive, it really depends on the material. For example, tourmaline is expensive, imperial topaz is SUPER expensive and quartz is not that expensive.

The key is always to get the best you can in each type of material and that usually means you are paying more than you would for an inferior grade.

I'm just as intrigued by your tools. Is that one tool a form of a digital micrometer? Lots of beauty not just in the stone but in the precision and skill as well.
