I was a tom boy... And I've always worn mens clothes... And I've never thought I was trans or anything else... I need more information on these gender clinics.... Im gonna ask my trans friends about this... Cuz I've never heard of a gender clinic... And I'm very curious about the matter.... I do peer support so the more I can expand my knowledge and experience with all walks of life the better support I can offer... And the trans community needs just as much support as anyone else... Here’s something I thought about regarding the whole trans bathroom complaint.
Peeping Tom’s have existed for the longest times. The problem wasn’t trans gives them an excuse, the problem is there’s a foot gap above and below the doors for the stalls, which is unusually perfect for a peeping tom. And that can be gay, straight, or trans weirdos. You gotta get rid of those gaps. They serve no purpose.

My step nephew came out last year and she is 15 years old now, she needs to wait to get hormone replament therapy until she turn 18 cause her mom said so, she complies. so it means it's not easy to get HRT contrast of what many right wingers like to claimed. many times some kids end up being homeless cause their parents got upset and kicked them out when they came out to their parents, some of them also comitted suicide because they always get mocked and get bullied. as for transgender adults, i had a chance to met them in real life, i talked to them several times and we just had normal conversations just like i always have with everybody else, and none of them ever demanding me or even asked me for pronoun.

The 80+% number is from some study where they counted every child referred to a gender clinic as having gender dysphoria. The fact is that children can be taken to these gender clinics by ignorant adults for any number of reasons. The vast majority are turned away because they do not display signs of being trans when interviewed by experts, but the study included these children in the 80% number.

This makes a ton of sense to me. When I was very young (4-12 or so) I was very very tomboy-ish, played with trucks, hated girl clothes, wanted to do the activities that boys were doing, and when people asked me "what do you want to be when you grow up?" I often answered "a man!"
During puberty, I totally grew out of that and am very much a cis woman.
Had this caused me distress as a child, however, my mom might have taken me to a clinic, but obviously I would have never transitioned. I would be part of that broad, misleading statistic Tucker cites.

every trans person who's ever tried to get on hrt can tell you that it's not fucking easy lmfao. eve was saying like - the age people tend to be allowed hormones is 16, but in most cases, they won't be issued until 18. the amount of hoops you have to jump through is insane. i live in an informed consent state, and even then, there were several weeks of consultation, i had to get letters from my psychiatrist and general practitioner, it wasn't allowed to happen until i was 19 even though i've known i was trans since middle school, etc. i wish puberty blockers were more normalized and easier to access. it would have saved younger me a LOT of grief if they'd been an option for me then.

Emma and Sam i believe discussed a clip from tucker carlson and the governor of arkansas about the new bill the governor vetoed it's called i believe the save adolescence from experimentation act ... and there was some confusion tucker claimed to be citing an article he just read that claimed that something along the lines of "the vast majority of children who don't take hormones end up not being trans...."

CALLER: So i'm a researcher on trans issues i'm a trans woman myself and i thought that it might be useful to offer a little bit of further information on what the actual debate is


EMMA: it sounded like he was making the talking point that there is a very high rate of of trans identified youth --

CALLER: — there's a lot of conflation around this -- that children that are either diagnosed with what used to be "gender identity disorder" -- that's no longer recognized by the dsm, and now would be "gender dysphoria" -- and significantly those are different things --- And there's a lot of debate within the field about how likely it is for a child that is diagnosed with gender identity disorder or gender dysphoria -- or a gender non-conforming youth -- to RETAIN a trans identity as they age, and as you might see there's already like a lot of like term confusion, and so that's where i think a lot of the confusion comes from -- so the governor was right in one aspect in which there does need to be more research done in this field but he is also right to veto the bill.


The research that exists right now suggests that a lot of kids who are referred to gender clinics will end up identifying as cis later in life ---- which is obviously like a very limited (possibility) (but) it isn't the case what tucker was trying kind of intimating — the argument that kids that take hormones or take puberty blockers would be very very likely to later not be trans -- and that is not true... right right

By the time someone is around age 15 or 16, which is usually when hormones are if if they're an adolescent, that's the early stage they're going to start receiving cross hormone therapy…. and by that time it seems that almost everyone who identifies as like a gender other than that's what they were assigned at first or who reports very strong persistent feelings of gender dysphoria is going to remain with those experiences and is ultimately going to identify as transgender …. and that the purpose of the puberty blockers — which were actually developed many years
— which is something they don't tell you —— there's a number of health conditions that cause early puberty which can be detrimental to cisgendered people — and so that's why we have puberty blockers to begin with —— this is not like right new medicine —
