Kudos to Nikon and Canon who have a full touch interface on the LCD unlike Sony a smartphone manufacturer that does not have on their ILCE cameras.

seen a video from jared polin
went straight to Kai's

anyway the underflip screen is not that stupid if we think that when there's too much light you can still see the image clearly because the camera over keeps the area a bit darker like a lenshood

I think I still prefer my Fujifilm camera but this is a nice step in the right direction for Nikon. Now they need a good series of compact DX primes for the Z50.

I wouldn't even think about buying this camera. I just find your videos incredibly entertaining.

I've used my Z50 for pretty much a year now and I still love it. It's pretty tiny for my man hands but the vlogging plate from Smallrig fixed that easily. It added *just* enough to the grip to make it perfect for me, though I do wish Nikon would release a battery grip. For horizontal shooting it's fine but I miss the shutter botton for vertical shots.
But the camera itself has been very reliable for me, it works well with the adapter and the images look awesome. Some write beyond ISO 800 the noise gets bad but I find it perfectly useable up to ISO 12.800. Pretty much the whole native ISO range is usable to a degree. I wouldn't crop beyond 12.800 though.
Got mine for 570€ through Amazon Warehouse Deals with the FTZ adapter basically brand new! Absolute steal if you ask me :)

Eagerly waiting for the full review! But one thing I must admit that Nikon's strategy of implementing mounts on cameras is the best!

Same mount for all Nikon cameras that's brilliant.👍👍

True, A lot of vloggers didn't like the under flip screen on the Canon M5 because the screen would be blocked if you put it on a mini tripod. I wished they put a fully articulating screen.

Yes, for those who can upgrade to full frame. If one is happy with APS-C how are the APS-C lenses for this, they didn't release much DX lenses for their F mount dSLRs (apart from kit lenses). Esp the wide angle primes and there were never a 2nd version of the 17-55mm F2.8. A bread and butter lens for pro's and amateurs.

This looks pretty sweet for legacy Nikon users like myself.

With the new 16-50 and 50-250mm lenses that are intended to work with the Z50, Nikon are aiming squarely at Sony's alpha series cameras, particularly the new a6100 and a6400. And the back fascia of the camera reminds me a lot of Canon's EOS M5 and M50 cameras; even the placement of control buttons looks eerily similar. So Nikon are clearly aiming at the M5 and M50 as well.

Although I am having trouble understanding why Nikon went with a 20.9MP sensor instead of 24. While the almost 3MP difference in resolution isn't huge and unlikely to make any real-world difference, one might think it might allow for a 0.5 to 0.75 stop increase in dynamic range.

Although the Nikon sensor, by virtue of being substantially bigger than a Micro Four Thirds sensor offering 20MP, should provide substantially better dynamic range and image quality.

One thing that does make the Z50 compelling, though, is that it uses Z-mount lenses without needing an adaptor and there is also no crop factor to contend with. So, as KaiW says, you'll be able to upgrade to a full-frame Z-series body without giving up your existing Z-mount lenses.

If the Z50 image quality and dynamic range are good in spite of its 20MP sensor, then I might very well be tempted to get rid of my existing Canon M6 and EF-M series lenses.

Which camera has better autofocus for sport, Z50 or D7500?

I'm so happy that nikon released an aps-c mirrorless. Though I'll still stick with my D5300 🙂 maybe ill switch to mirrorless in the future after saving some 💰.
