DPReview TV: Nikon Z50 Preview

The Z50 is Nikon's first Z-mount mirrorless camera with an APS-C sensor, and it launches alongside a pair of DX zoom lenses. Chris and Jordan had a chance to use a pre-production model and share their experience in this hands-on preview.

**IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT 4K VIDEO** During our pre-announcement briefing with the pre-production Z50 used in this episode, we were given the impression that there would be a crop when shooting 4K video. It turns out that information is incorrect – there is no crop when shooting 4K video on the Z50.

Happy Birthday!! Looks like a great camera for traveling and street photography with that "pancake" lens and I love that is the same Z mount of the Z6 and Z7. Can't wait to get one!!

10:34 according to the Nikon Canada video there is no additional crop on 4K video

Hi Chris: Happy Birthday!!! Hope you will have a party with The dpreview team!!! Nikon Z 50 Is a mix between D 5600 and D 7500 but not D 500... I like the pictures with the 50 mm f 1.8 S, but the one with the two lenses kit are just so regular!!! Z6 is a much better option...!!! Enjoy your video and the work you are doing with Jordan!!!

How do you guys get such sharp, crisp footage on faces? I feel like my X-T3 even with prime lenses is giving me soft face rendering. Are you doing sharpening in post, or is my XT-3 just less sharp than the Panasonic cameras you guys shoot with?

Info on the 4k crop has not been updated yet on the video. Other sites are saying uncropped 4k videos.

Solid presentation of the z50. Just a quick question, if i take this camera and take an ftz adapter will the mount be able ti hold the heavier lenses like sigma 17-50 f2.8 on a tripod or is it going to break in half or something?
