My brother & I once noticed a tall couple (man & woman) who looked way out of place. They were dressed with hiking clothing complete with backpacks. Both people were above average tall with pale complexions and platinum blonde hair. These odd balls were observing the busy S.F. city street full of pedestrians bustling around them. My brother was driving & I was passenger & I felt weird when the two odd balls turned their attention to my brother & I. I felt like they knew we where commenting on how odd & out of place they looked. There was plenty of cars in traffic & pedestrians on the streets but these odd balls focused on our car. It was something strange that has stuck with me for years & I’ll never forget about it.

the tinkering with the gold cigarette case sounds like activating a "device, " possibly for hypnosis or mind control... and the bit about the candy cigarettes was part of that, used as a distraction, something tangible for him to focus on while the "device" could then do its thing...

but of course i've seen too many sci-fi things and i have a wild imagination... plus! it's fun to speculate!

There are quite a few abduction reports where only one person sees anything, or, the witness notices that everyone around them has disappeared, like on a busy street. Combining that with the many MIB-like qualities of the people in this case, that you mentioned.

They are definitely real. Back in the early eighties there were two that passed me on the street. They were quite tall, probably at least 7 1/2 to 8 feet tall, had hats on and the same suit, but the suit was really tight. They both walked in sync and as they passed me glanced at me. VERY STRANGE WORLD FOR SURE. There is an explanation for everything, we just have to keep seeking.

This reminded me of something that happened to me in 1997. I was walking in Kensington Gardens, London when I found an ID card on the ground. The card belonged to a US naval attache and I happened to know where the naval HQ building was located. As I walked I examined the card and was surprised to see that the expiry date showed a year about 1000 years in the future i.e 3098 or very similar. I wondered about the utility of that, since no human being would require a card with such a long expiry. When I got to the HQ, the military guard accepted the card asking only where I found it (but not how I knew where to deliver it!). He didn't seem surprised by the card itself. I've wondered about that expiry date ever since.

Same experience in Nashville tn in 2015. Two couples walked into the place i was having lunch at and listening to the band playing. These four adults didn't talk. Didn't look around. Just stared at each other. The men had short blondish hair that looked like plastic. The two women wore the same blue green greyish jump suit. The men wore grey slacks and a thin sport coat that was tight fitting and unusual looking. The waitress asked if they wanted a drink and a menu. Three of theme didn't acknowledge the waitress and the one man looking straight ahead quietly said no. I was at the table next to them. There were about thirty people sitting around and I noticed they were looking at these four odd people. After about ten minutes they got up and walked out pass the band to the entrance. They walked very smoothly, not like a normal bounce when you walk. I knew the singer in the band and as soon as the band ended the song and took a break. My friend came up to my table with this bewildering look and said what was that? I said beats me. I looked around and everyone was sitting with this puzzling look So i know I wasn't imagining this. The waitress came over and she told us their skin was the same completion and looked like plastic film. We eventually just said who knows what we saw. I've met others who have said the same experience happened to them the same year. We talk now and then and we still think about this Twilight zone moment. I always say, who knows whats next. If anyone reading this has had this experience then you know how strange it is. I thought for awhile they could have been robots. But thats to help make this event more acceptable. I don't know.
