Some say he went up there to die, others say he went up there to live.

I work on aircraft myself for about 12yrs now with private and commercial. Surprisingly its not at all difficult to basically go up to any aircraft grab it and take off, seriously there’s nothing/nobody’s gonna stop you. I guess just yourself at that moment. RIP RICH thx for not hurting anyone else.

Every man has the same feelings as this man...he found himself at the' end of his tether' & went on one last, real adventure. He definitely lived more in that hour or so than the last few years. Sounded like a great guy to me. Rip sky king!

It’s amazing how much that aircraft could take they were just not designed to do loops and rolls. He did everything and couldn’t care less and the plane did just fine until he decided to get a closer view of the earth.

I remember this they tried to talk him down
He was very upset about disappointing his friends an family
Said he was going to nose dive it in a safe place 😔😔

Poor guy, life hit him hard and he wanted to fly a plane before clocking out and doing so in a remote island so no one else would get hurt.

RIP SkyKing! I didn’t know him but a friend worked with him at SeaTac and said Richard was going through a lot at home. He was a good guy who had a bad couple of weeks - he wasn’t looking to hurt others which is pretty clear when you listen to the full radio communications from that day and his discussions with air traffic control. He just wanted to do something spectacular and even when in flight he said he didn’t think it would end well for him considering he didn’t know how to land it. I encourage anyone who thinks what he did was terrorism to listen to the full recordings from that day. He made a mistake but even in doing it was trying to protect the public from his decision. It’s why he crashed into an almost empty island.

I feel like this guy probably wanted to be a pilot and he had his dreams shattered, feeling like he is a disappointment.

I was the Captain of Alaska flight 322 that told Tower that they needed to scramble the fighters to intercept the Q400 not knowing the intent of the use of the stolen aircraft.

It's crazy to think that there are millions upon millions of more people like him who hide in silence whilst begging for help.

Looks like he lived his life, and left it the way he wanted to.

Crazy and Brave or the other way around.
I think our world missed out on great potential from this guy if he only had a better options. Hope he is in better place.

Can't screen for mental illness at the tsa but we can talk about it and raise awareness and demand funding from our states to support treatment and education training

What a CHAD. He didn't want to hurt no body in the end when his pain was too much to bare.

Thank god he didn’t take anyone with him. Sad that he needed help.

He definitely screams for help in silence all this time, and no one hears him.

I remember that I live on a island off of Seattle! It was amazing and horribly sad. The man was not interested in hurting anybody but himself
