One of the most unique dolphins species, it’s neat to see how they live and what they eat.

The most intriguing part of watching these videos, is the drawings by Danielle up in the corner that slowly reveal each animal she speaks about. Quite the talent with a bit of envy. I'm a painter, not a sketcher. Lol.
I believe I heard/read quite recently that Animal Logic is coming to the big screen. WOW, can't wait to see BIGGER than life animals being brought to such a large screen. Should be awesome, Danielle!

Fun Fact about the Boto!

They've been documented and recorded hunting electric eels by slapping them with their tails, launching the eel out of the water repeatedly until it's edible!

I was born and raised in the Amazon and have fond memories of these underrated animals. It was definitely much easier to spot them a couple of decades ago. Indeed their population has been drastically reduced.

I remember reading about these beautiful dolphins when I was a kid. One of my favourite dolphin species. Thanks for doing an episode on these beautiful creatures.

Amazon Pink River Dolphins are so criminally underrated compared to their popular marine cousins. Glad you guys made a video about them and mention the myth that they turn into hot dates to seduce women. 🧜‍♂️🐬

Aw, I've been enchanted by these guys since I saw them in a coloring book when I was 8. I bet if they got the Lisa Frank treatment, everyone else would think they were as adorable as marine dolphins, too. Beautiful underwater footage, btw. That dull red glow makes the hunting scenes especially eerie!

In Brazil we call them "Boto cor-de-rosa" which means literally Pink Boto.

I live in Brazil, and my grandma was fishing in the araguaia river one day, and when she caught a fish, a boto stole it from her lol

One the biggest challenges for boto protection is poisoning due to pollution and mercury dumped in water to find gold.
They're super vulnerable and Brazil's government does close to nothing to stop it, but people are getting more and more aware of the problem, so there is hope for the amazon's future.

Isn't that the same river dolphin from that one episode of The Wild Thornberries that shapeshifted in order to lure Debby into the river, and steal her away forever?

I visited the Amazon a few years ago and got to swim near them. One village did a sort of dolphin attraction. The locals only feed them for tourists two days a week so that they don't become too dependent on humans for food. Our guide told us the legend about the botos seducing women and that in some versions of the stories the boto wears a stingray as a hat to hide his blow hole.

I saw them in the Amazon. Beautiful animals. They are super protected by law and people there really care for them. The natives say that when one is fishing and they come to the area, they corral the fish so we can get it. I don’t know if that is true or not but as soon as they showed up, the peacock bass started biting and we got several.
