My German grandmother resisted - was sentenced into a German concentration camp - survived the war - was incarcerated again for another 2 years by the Russians - she seemed „suspicious“ - survived again (in the same concentration camp) and birthed my mother.
She is MY true hero

My grandpa got drafted as a child soldier and quite literally carried water for a few weeks. His official order was to fight to the last bullet and his unofficial order was if he sees an allied soldier to never touch anything and play dead, run or surrender.
