A couple details to add to this excellent tutorial:

There is one exception to the normal "Attack Everything" rules for barrage AAA; friendly flights at Deck altitude are not attacked unless they entered a barrage zone hex as a result of Scatter or SAM Avoidance.

When you receive a SAM Avoid result, f the flight attacked by a SAM has movement points remaining, it has to perform the SAM Avoidance maneuver with its next move and does not receive the SAM Avoid marker. Or to put it another way, you only receive a SAM Avoid marker if the flight is attacked when it has 0 movement points.
