Being Canadian I associated the 49ers with the 49th parallel - which makes up the border between the US and Canada! But as the team is from San Fran, the gold rush does make much more sense!

In Oklahoma we had the 89ers baseball team. 89ers from the Oklahoma Land run in 1889. 😎

I was lucky.
My public school education was actually pretty solid.
Vermont, spends a lot per student, and gets a lot of complaints from taxpayers about the expense... But personally, I think it's worth it since that money means the teachers can afford to live here 😅

The 76ers were named after i-76 that passed through Philly. I-76 was named after 1776 (partially), but I still think it's important to make the distinction.
