Gibson actually did this in 2015(kinda) with the Les Paul classic 100th anniversary models, look up the sea foam green one Its so incredibly Amazing.

The colors look fantastic, but for that money, I'd rather get a Suhr or something from a small luthier than a factory production Gibson

DANG ! I got the grampa color on purpose. Always loved the 58 ebony Custom and found a 97 studio in that style. Ebony fretboard 496/500 pups in a chainsaw case, used $800. Many yrs ago. Many upgrades on cheap parts and now a fantastic working tool.

PRS does not have sole ownership of transparent colours sprayed over figured wood.

Yeah but PRS copied from them first. Not literally, but Paul has gone on to say he wanted the best of the Gibson, and the best of the Fender and put them into 1 guitar. If you ask me that's exactly what Gibson did here. They looked at a strength of their competitor and worked a similar approach. Just good business.

They look cool for sure. Also I still hope one day you'll try a Sire L7. Pretty well speced for 599 to I think 699 for the flame top. Rolled finger board edges, locking tuners. I believe modern voiced humbuckers. Could be a solid LP/Eclipse rival.

I saw the Classic White in person a couple days ago and it had the minty green look of glow-in-the-dark stuff in regular light.

It seems like theyre starting to get the message that just doing things the way theyve always done it isnt going to be enough anymore, but until they finally start making guitars that actually look like real Gibsons but are still priced to compete with PRS SE or Fender MIM theyre just not going to shake the 'grandpa guitar' stigma or win back the young customers.
