It wasn’t designed to do this but if you don’t want the screen to float you can lower it to rest on the keyboard by pushing the screen forward while it’s still tilted open. This makes it a little less top heavy and easier to balance on your lap. Seems to work best with 12.9” version.

The shortcut is so good that I am using my ipad more than my laptop.

One thing to note is that this work with any keyboard. No need to pay extra for the expensive magic key. Also, your may also need to practise touch typing to fully use the small case keyboard productively.

You can just take the ipad and place it with bottom wedged on the keyboard edge and the top just leaning on the other part. It works, its stable. The one you used works too but you have to stick your phone between it to prevent that slide effect.

A solution to sketching whilst having the magic keyboard attached:

-turn the magic keyboard upside down
-slide your phone in the gap that appears between the screen and the keyboard
-turn your phone horizontally

The screen will stay in place regardless of pressure. More importantly no keyboard keys will be activated in this setup. Hope this helps
