A simple way to imagine the curvature of space: Let's take a nail (this will be the core of the planet) and a wooden board (this will be the stretched fabric of space) - drive the nail into the board, the nail with a sharp end will expand the void and the board will press on the nail from all sides, that's the curvature of space

It’s a cool demonstration, but it tries to explain gravity.. by gravity 🎐

The curvature of the sheet of lycra is due to gravitational pull of earth, not only to the mass of objects. But where is there a pull toward down in space? If a celestial object is curving space, it should be curved in all directions. If this is so, than analogy with sheet of lycra isn't quite right. If it is, then in space is an extra gravitational pull toward down. But from what? And why not up or whatever direction?

I have a question professor. Pardon me if this is a dumb one.
Lets say the Sun shrinks and its mass becomes equal to that of Earth. Will Earth stop revolving around the sun? Or all the planets including Sun would revolve around the planet that has greater mass like Jupiter or Saturn??

I just want to understand 1 thing... If the space is three dimensional...at least, we are aware of 3 dimensions... How do we rely on the experiment made on flat fabric? Isn't it just 2 dimensional experiment?

The fabric is bending because of the weight of the what you put in the middle in space nothing has weight only mass and space is not 2 dimensional like the fabric

This simulation is in gravity of earth if it is in space every your mass will have been floated.

@J J  well your right they know nothing about gravity but pretend to know. In my research gravity in Latin"Gravis" means burden of weight and sense free fall is an acceleration with lagging force behind it causes you to have weight against the ground while your not in the state of fre fall. It definitely an inertial lagging force of motion.

The Sun's pull on Earth deviates to the center of Earth to cause it's free fall, just like when you stur your coffee or tea it stoops in the middle because Earths gravity deviates to the center to keep hold on the faster moving molecules in the outer perimeter through covalent bond but loses grip on some so the center slower moving molecules take up the slack become heavier and stoop down showing the action as inertial. And that mechanical force can be an extreme power to use for moving lifting or travelling in space. And can generate electrical energy forever when used properly.

Could it be possible that the ellusive Graviton actually be the membrane (Brane) ? That would explain why we cant find it, and explain both the infinite range and the fact we can feel the warping of gravity from dark matter on the other side of (the mirror?... the sheet of reality?). There would only be one graviton, in this case, the black lycra sheet. Maybe it could also explain why its like 10 000 weaker than electromagnetism ?

this isn't actually much accurate because this looks like this 2D surface is bend "into" third dimmension - but curvature of spacetime doesn't mean that space is bend "into" 4th spatial dimmension...

lot better would be tomdraw multiple circles on that membrane, each inside other one, just with smaller diameter... then people should look exactly from
top, so they will not see that membrane is actually bending to bottom, they will just see that circles on membrane will distort... that will be much closer apprpximation to distortion of 3D space ...

This theory must also mean that Earth is getting closer and closer to the Sun which also means you can measure the time it will take for the Earth to get too close and start to heat the earth. "Global Warming"
