One of my friends takes his BP at least 15 times a day after he had a mild heart attack. His Cardiologist advised him to stop, it’s an anxiety problem now more than cardiac unfortunately. Great video again thanks!

Thanks docs. In my book, you guys are up for the YouTube Nobel Prize! Different cuffs! Who knew? I always ask my doctor to take my blood pressure twice - once soon after walking in then again last thing after I've been sitting there trying to relax. There are almost always different readings. Get regular exercise to help lower blood pressure - even just walking.

Hi Dr. Zalzal and Dr. Weening. This was definitely good advice. I have been told I have the blood pressure of a 21 year old. Mind you I'm older than dirt. Everytime lately they have taken my blood pressure over my sweatshirt and it was still fine. Thank heavens. If it is high than I will do everything you brought up in this video. Thank you for sharing and enjoy your weekend

Excellent advice, timely, as I have been taking mine for two weeks after routine doctors check up, where green, white, pink and blue coat syndrome happens all the time, even the black of the security guards works to elevate! Anxiety! BP never been at good level in a medical setting. Now treated but only after home readings taken as you suggest. Thanks for the videos and shorts.

A good technique for getting your blood pressure down to your normal range is to take a few slow, very deep breaths before your BP is taken. You might even be able to ask whoever will be taking it to wait a few minutes before taking it so you have that time to take those deep breaths and settle a bit.

These are great tips. Ones I did not know about are stimulants and bladder. After having recently been subscribed BP meds, I take readings rather often and still sometimes it was about the level that the doc observed in the exam room before the meds. I think I now know why! Thank you!!!

Another great video docs! At my oncologist they always would rush to take BP. They would get upset if I wanted to do some deep breathing to calm down, I was not allowed to put my arm at heart level during the test, and they insisted on asking me questions during the BP. Tisk Tisk. I take it at home and take photos of the reading with my cell phone then show it to the Dr. It has time date, Dia/systol and heart rate. That was my solution to the Drs office scenario. Ironically I never had a BP issue until I had chemotherapy!
