Rather than thinking in terms of high intelligence and low intelligence, high grades and low grades, try thinking in terms of what are my child's areas of strength and what are their areas for growth? Your child IS smart. But maybe not in the way they are being asked to be by someone outside of themselves such as a parent or teacher.

Looking up and gaining a better understanding of the Theory of Multiple intelligences can give you greater insight into why identifying strengths and areas for growth is much more reflective of the human experience than using tests and grades. It's a great way to gain insight into how to better support your child and celebrate what valuable things they bring to the world.
