UK declares ‘code red’ heat emergency

Britain's chief forecaster the Met Office has declared a national weather emergency, issuing a first ever red warning for parts of the United Kingdom.

I don't like the heat personally, but why does every single news broadcast in this country have to come with that stern, joyless voice of gloom? For most people it'll just be a sweaty couple of days, good opportunity for a barbecue. Enough fear theatre!

In 1976 when I was 9 years old in the UK- we had 10 weeks of 80-90 degrees and we played out for 10 hours a day in the heat.No warnings- no government telling parents to keep their kids indoors

Reports like this is why I quit watching broadcast news. Summer it is Hot, some summers are hotter than others. Winter it is Cold, some winters are colder than others.
