Kicking off the 2023 season on Harry's Farm we look back at the financials for 2022 harvest and then see what the 2023 harvest is looking like. I also discuss the current food shortages and why I think they won't end any time soon.

I’m not a farmer, not even in the UK, but you and Clarkson have really brought farming to the center stage where it belongs. Never a wasted word listening to your shares. Thanks

Love the way Harry gives us a proper insight into how farming economics work and the real reasons why we currently have food supply issues. How the Government sees farming these days is much how it saw Manufacturing in the 70/80s.

Even with a bottomless pit of gold I don't think I could cope with being a farmer. The loss of crops, the peril of changing prices for everything, the nonsensical government decisions, all of it would drive me to an early grave!

I started a little mixed orchard back in 2015. It has taught me why I'd never want to be a fruit farmer. Here's all the things I worry about: Weather, bugs, moulds, wasps, squirrels, birds. Thank goodness it's only a hobby for me.

Inflation is far more harmful to individuals than a collapsing stock or property market because it directly affects people's cost of living, which they immediately feel. It is not surprising that the current market sentiment is extremely pessimistic. In today's economy, assistance is critical if we are to survive.

Here in Spain there was no rain last year and we are not expecting much this year, the farmers are growing mangoes and avocados because they have more value than tomatoes ECT, the problem is they are using more and more water to grow them and so the lack of imported fruit and vegetables will be an ongoing issue.

Thankfully your financially stable Harry, the content you put out I am sure makes you a decent amount and the adventures of the 90s/00s has made you a wealthy man. I feel for the plain farmers who don’t have that secondary or tertiary income

This is the best farming channel. Clarksons entertaining bit like a reality show version of farming but Harry is informative and interesting.

I come from a family of farmers that are now all teachers or shopkeepers. Not one in my extended family are "on the land" as we are all tired of fighting for a reasonable return from the supermarkets, or faced again with some government incompetence. There has been a few studies about bird populations and it appears they are increasing in some species. Unfortunately the increase is the birds that attack our crops. Some here in Australia are using nets to cover the crop.

This is so informative, especially compared to the farming output that the BBC produces (which is usually about some niche aspects of the countryside and not about what is happening with the bulk of food production).

Great to see you back doing your videos and keeping us up to date with what is going on.

Great video. People in government haven't got a clue. By the time they wake up it will be too late. Hope you have a good growing season. All the best 🇬🇧.

Love Clarkson's farm, but your Channel is my go-to place and main source for detailed farming education, Harry! THIS is where I feel I learn the most, so PLEASE do some more regular vids here, Harry. 👍🏻😃👏🏻

Great to see you back, Harry - always learning form you about the farm and the impact of incompetent governments. Needs more Stanley, however!

Great to have the Farm vids back Harry - and you explaining the utter madness otherwise known as the UK government's farming policy.

It seems so strange, this must be the second or third time I have seen Harry bring up a new program that pays farmers not to grow food and Harry just being so frustrated with it all. Very sorry to hear the OSR was eaten by wildlife, but very happy to see the wheat is doing well. Have the sheep and rams already came and went? Thanks for the update. 👍👍

Good to have you back, Harry. Don't do the fallow thing, there will be nothing to talk about for two years. I love your videos, do keep them coming.

Very informative and interesting. Love listening to this channel. Can’t believe how oblivious our leaders are to what is going on with farming 😮
