"Everything That Touches You" was recorded in late 1967 at United Western Recorders in Hollywood, and released as a single January 8, 1968 and on their 4th album: 'Birthday" on Warner Bros.-Seven Arts Records. It reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #22 on the Billboard Easy Listening chart. Enjoy my High-Quality Remix/Remaster of this great Sunshine-Pop hit.

With Hal Blaine on drums, Joe Osborn providing a marvelous intricate bass line, Larry Knechtel on keyboards and Mike Deasy on guitar, how could The Wrecking Crew not launch a good song to a hit single!

Written by founding bandmember Terry Kirkman. Produced by Bones Howe

Personnel on this recording:
Terry Kirkman, Jim Yester – Lead vocals
Hal Blaine – drums
Joe Osborn – bass
Mike Deasy – guitar
Larry Knechtel – piano, keyboards
Milton Holland, Dale Anderson, Gene Estes – percussion
Red Callender – tuba
James Decker, Arthur Maebe, William Hinshaw, David Duke – french horns
Emanuel Klein, Jimmy Zito, Buddy Childers, Tony Terran, Bobby Bryant – trumpets
Lew McCreary, David Wells – trombones

About the original stereo mix:
This was another lopsided stereo mix with drums and bass slammed into the left, lead vocals slammed in the right, backing vocals slammed into the left, etc., with nothing in-between. It had a horrible hollow EQ. Producer Bones Howe never gave Joe Osborne’s Fender Precision Bass any nice bottom-end whatsoever, most likely to highlight his virtuosity. This is such a great song, but it always sounded so empty to me, like something was missing. I thought that a good remix would do it justice.

About my mix:
For Terry’s and Jim’s lead vocals, I centered it [instead of it being slammed into the right], notched out that horrible midrangey EQ and gave it a hint of slow stereo reverb. I isolated the background vocals and gave them a surround-sound cinematic stereo effect, instead of them being slammed into the right. I left the drums panned left, retained the mic-bleed in the right and raised them 10% with a better EQ. For the bass, I centered the low-end, but you can still hear Joe’s plucky Fander Precision Bass in the left channel and I left it that way.

Technical Information:
I used iZotope RX-8 to isolate the Lead vocals, Background vocals, Instruments, Drums and Bass into 5 separate tracks. Adobe Audition was used for Dynamic Range recovery, Reverb, Delay, EQ, and final mixdown. Sonic Studio’s Amarra Luxe Sound Processor was used for post EQ and upsampling. NERO 2019 Platinum used to generate the final video.
