The Unexpected Objects That Fill A Designer’s Home

From yellow-tinted trinkets to arty postcards, potted house plants to personal paintings, Alison Lloyd’s Hackney home is overflowing with collectibles. Or, in her words, “I’m a gatherer of crap,” the founder of Ally Capellino smiles, sitting next to a repurposed table she found in a park. “I pick up stuff that I can’t bear the thought of being thrown away.” Long-time readers might recall our first visit to Alison’s flat a few years ago, during which she described her interiors style as “organised clutter”. Much to our delight – and precisely why she’s a brilliant subject for our Seven Wonders series – that hasn’t changed. “I’ve got an emotional attachment to everything,” she says. In our latest film, we tasked her with selecting her favourite things from the many objects that fill her home.

I love her! She's shamelessly awkward and comfortable in her own skin at the same time. She has a fabulous sense of recognition of Joy that I inherently relate to on the basest of levels.
I was expecting to find a boring and tone deaf elitist designer's dwelling that I would give about 10 seconds time to but instead I hit full screen and found myself fighting between seeking for more treasures around her house and not wanting to miss a single expression of hers.
