Months earlier, in casual conversation, she told him she grew up in the house across from the library. He listened to every word she said.

The fact that he probably tried honking his horn in front of MULTIPLE LIBRARIES before he found her kills me

"Maybe I'm not good enough" admitting this is the most painful feeling one can have.

Him screaming "what!" And Emma's reaction aswell as the "you're a baby" line is totally improvised and it's great

He inspired her to be better, belived in her even when she didn't and finally he let her go so she could live her dream

This scene parallels the dinner scene where she calls him out for selling himself out for success in a band. She was right.

In this scene, he is right.

They made each other better, but didn't end up together. I guess that's life.

I love how he’s NOT trying to win her back here. He only wants to help her achieve her dream. That’s love.

So I saw in google map driving from LA to Boulder City ( Mia's home) takes 4h and 19mins.

You know he is the keeper when he drives 4h19mins just to tell you that you have a potential job offer.

This right here, 1:07 through 2:13 - that's how you earn an Oscar... I can't watch this and not think she's really not acting when she doing this... Feels genuine and authentic...

It was supposed that in the 0:56 moment, Seb would say "That's it??". But there was a huge improvIsation and I loved it so much.

I love this scene because she took the lines in such a different and real approach. I would have never thought to act them out like this if i were given the script. It reads so realistic. Love this. So much.

They each pushed each other to achieve their dreams. So sad they didn't end up together. That's why La La Land's ending is so powerful.

This movie is unique several ways.. it's a musical made to look like a fantasy. But it's one of d most practical n relatable movies out there. This movie is both a love story & a success story. & just how well they blended d two things that u couldn't tell apart anywhere. Pretty awesome

I knew she’s getting an oscar when I first saw this scene

1:23 THIS is why Emma Stone got the Oscar that year. Look at all her emotions in 10 seconds. She says, "Maybe I'm not good enough" five times and each time is a totally different emotion.

First one: "Maybe I'm not good enough. - Maybe that's the truth.
Second: "No...maybe I'm not." She's actually questioning it. She's almost joking about it.
Third: Totally believing the words. She's accepting it.
Fourth: She's defending the idea now. She starts breaking down just living in that reality for a second.
Last time: She doesn't even say the words. She just breaks down thinking about the new reality before going on a monologue to try to justify it.

Sebastian fights through all of her defense mechanisms for HER dream. Sometimes, the difference truly is just to have someone there to tell you that you can do it and demand that you do.

I know that it is not the message this film wants to push forward, but I think that sometimes admitting that you are not good enough and taking sensible decisions is the only way to go. What happens is that nobody asks those who have to give up and do something else. But recognising your limitations is one of the most real life skills everybody needs.

I always love the "what!" in this scene, so I'm thrilled to know it was improvised!

Don’t you ever tell yourself you’re not good enough.
