Lyrics:
I wish girls you love never gave back diamond rings
I wish every porch had a swing
Wish kids still learn to say "sir" and "ma'am", how to shake a hand
I wish every state had a Birmingham

I wish everybody knew all the words to Mama Tried
I wish Monday mornings felt just like Friday nights

And I wish even cars had truck beds
And every road was named Copperhead
And coolers never ran out of cold Bud Light
And I wish high school home teams never lost
And back road drinking kids never got caught
I wish the price of gas was low and cotton was high
I wish honkytonks didn't have no closing time
And I wish grandpas never died

I wish Sundays on a creek bank would never end
Wish I could learn to drive again
I wish the first time, seventeen, she was my everything
Kiss in a Chevrolet, could happen every day

I wish everybody overseas was gonna make it home
I wish Country music still got played on Country radio

And I wish even cars had truck beds
And every road was named Copperhead
And coolers never run out of cold Bud Light
And I wish high school home teams never lost
And back road drinking kids never got caught
I wish the price of gas was low and cotton was high
I wish honkytonks didn't have no closing time
And I wish grandpas never died
Never died

And I wish good dogs never got grey and old
I wish farms never got sold

And I wish even cars had truck beds
And every road was named Copperhead
And coolers never run out of cold Bud Light
I wish high school home teams never lost
And back road drinking kids never got caught
I wish the price of gas was low and cotton was high
I wish honkytonks didn't have no closing time
And I wish grandpas never died
I wish grandpas never died

Don't own anything
Just sharing my love of country music

“I wish Country Music still got played on Country Radio” one of the best lines in modern country music

I lost my grandfather to cancer. He was a massive part of my childhood, and I would give anything to see him once more, because he wrote a list of things before he died, that he would have loved to do if he had more time, and he wanted to see me play one last game, or wrestle one last match, and to lose him before my highschool season just crushed me, but before every game I would play this, and I would shed a few tears, but go out and honor him. To anyone who still has time, do well by your grandfathers, and spend more time with them, because every day could be the last, and even though the grandsons of the world are being watched over, that old man will never be replaced, and you will never understand how much he means until its too late

I just lost my grandfather a few hours ago and being thousands of miles away has been the hardest part. I told my husband that even at 35 it feels like I’m just a kid again without her Grampy. He was our family’s rock and my favorite person in this world. I just feel empty without him. This was just what I needed tonight. 🙏💕🙏

Hands down one of the most beautiful songs of all time. On February 19th, every year, I plan to take my pickup truck and drive the back road that we always ride around on, where my papa taught me so many lessons in life, all while sipping a diet coke( his favorite drink), and blasting this song with the windows song. Heaven has a good man up there. I love you, papa

When I was in the 3rd grade, I had my short story posted in our school book, it was 1 of 5. I remember I got home and told everybody and nobody congratulated me.. but my Papa. He left to go to the store to pick up “bread”. He got back and he handed me a journal, & pack of pens some chocolates & a 20$ bill. He was so proud of me. My home life was terrible, but when I went to my papas house it was always better. I eventually moved in with him, & it was the best decision I ever made in my life. I then knew what real love felt like, love I didn’t have from my parents or anybody in my family. My papa was a special one. No matter what my birth parents did to him, he stood by their sides and tried to help them. He tried to help everybody. And when he passed away, my heart broke into a million pieces and I’m still trying to fill that void he left. I’m only 18 now, I just turnt 18.. he got me here. He kept me alive LITERALLY. He’s the only reason I didn’t commit suicide, & he still is. I cannot wait to see him again one day, to hug him, to go fishing with him again ( we used to go all the time when I was little he would always outfish me lol ).. now I go fishing a lot because I feel closest to him when I’m fishing. It feels like he’s standing beside me, with his fishing pole laughing at me because I’m not doing something right lol. I love you Papa, I miss you so much. Heaven is so lucky to have such an amazing man like you. I want to save life’s like you saved mine. Fly high King 💜. Richard Furman Mills, you’ll forever be my whole heart. And I’ll always be your angel. Thanks for being the best Papa a little girl could ever have & thanks for stepping up to the plate & raising me even though I wasn’t yours to raise 🤞🏼🥀🥺. (( update : currently pursuing a career in nursing, I work at a nursing home in my county, thanks for all the love and prayers I feel like they have gotten me through a lot, “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd came on the radio the other day to work, I was thinking about my grandpa hard and I just knew it was him, currently crying while typing this, thank you all again 💜.) and for everyone else who lost somebody they love, prayers for you & your family, please stay alive and healthy, I care 🙏.

My grandpa would probably say, ” you can wish in one hand, and shit in the other.” God I love my grandpa

I lost my grandpa yesterday at 5:10 pm, he was surrounded by loved ones and it is the hardest thing I've ever gone through. Im glad I was with him at the end but at the same time I'll never be able to unsee it. He was my favorite person in the whole damn world.
