You can walk even further, if you take the road to the left before the airfield you can walk to the harbour and from there there's a road back to the ground hangar. There's also a walkable way alongside the ground hangar shooting range 🙂

In the same way, you can walk to the bay where the ‘hangar’ for ships is located.

If you have any aircraft equipped with a gunner, the guns will follow your camera. What's more if you hit Elevator down or CTRL (not sure which triggers it, this is just my keybind) causes the guns to start firing.
