“I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters."

How did he know?

As an American, I am appalled to be living in the midst of this mass psychosis.

It’s quite simple man. My whole family are Trump supporters and it completely blows me away. You’d think you knew your own family and then you find this out. Anyways, it’s actually very simple. “It’s far easier to con someone than to convince them they’ve been conned.” Anyone who is afraid of being wrong (almost everyone) or embarrassed, have gone too far to admit they’re wrong now. They have way too much invested. They’ve lost family members, friends and maybe even jobs for their support. How big of a fool would one have to be to only JUST NOW realize you have been conned. It’s better to be in a club of people in denial.

As an American living in Europe for the past 7 years, I am completely astonished, disappointed and amazed at the downward spiral of what used to be American democracy under Trump and those around him. Even more disappointing were the enablers around him, who knew he was lying, knew he was immoral, without a drop of ethics or empathy... yet not only did they stand by Trump, but worse, encouraged him in his moral depravity! No excuses!

He Knew because he knew what they feared and hated was more powerful than ethics, decency or self preservation. He keep using the same playbook and they continue to fall for it.

I felt this sense of confusion when he won the presidency, my mind blown thinking how could this happen? After all the nasty things he's said and done, it was so obvious the type of person he was. And still so many said yes that's my guy and were proud of it. It's still hard to process, why, and that it could happen again. It's so absurd that all I can really do is laugh at the insanity.

The people that have affection for politicians that do disgusting things and want them elected ( because they are so very disgusting) are completely deranged. I have no words for them.

As an American, I really don't know how we come back from this level of madness and divisiveness. It's going to take quite a long time, if at all, for our society to be able to pull out of this downward spiral that we're in.

As a British born, USA living person, it's certainly completely mind blowing that this is going on. Can't believe there are people who don't know they are in the cult!

I'm American and I have never understood how anyone could possibly listen to D. Trump speak, look at his very public record, and think, "yeah, that's the guy we should put in charge!" How tf someone thinks that I will never know...

The problem with the UK and US political systems is that a lot of the rules are basically just agreements and they are not codified. When someone comes along and just breaks them and goes like: "Yeah what are you gonna do now? Jail your head of state?" these implicit rules fall completely apart.

I’m Canadian and having the U.S.A as your only neighbour is anxiety inducing.

Crazy that you’re not allowed to vote if you’ve been to prison, but you can run for presidency

No one ever thinks it can happen in their country.

That Fifth Avenue thing was chilling. Mainly because we've seen it's absolutely true. He never thought he'd win. He was in it originally for the PR. He identified a section of the voting public that was angry for some genuine and some (more) bullsh!t reasons. He "knew" in the same way any conman knows, identify your target and tailor your pitch.

I’m in Georgia and I’m flabbergasted. This whole situation is something out of the twilight zone. How can he lead in some polls after all of this? I don’t get it

The commentator Lawrence O'Donnell made a hilarious comment. He said Trump's mugshot should be used for his Presidential portrait. I agree.

He knows because he’s been doing it all his life. Nobody ever said NO to him. He just kept upping the anti, till he tried it on the biggest stage there is. And it worked. It’s taking some effort now to say NO, but the real heroes are going to throw the book at him.

The word of the moment is hate. It has always had a powerful effect to move people. It gets them to do incredibly horrible things, gather mobs etc. It's really quite easy if you think about it, if you have no moral limits.
