Yet, he voted against censuring Greene, has been silent about Gosar and Boebert, and voted against holding Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress. Oh, and he voted against the second impeachment (by proxy, natch), despite his life being in direct danger that day. And as a topper, he voted against raising the debt ceiling, a basic proposition if ever there was one. But he has an eyepatch and served in Iraq and was on SNL and yaddah, yaddah, yaddah, so he’s a “good, moderate Republican.”

The Republicans want it every way. They stupidly see themselves as Saint Ronnie reborn. All the bile, prejudice, and nihilism of a Nixon and Goldwater but with enough smiles, quips and pillow taps of self-critique to give the patina of acceptability.
