Another reason ESPN will not extend and will require a new contract is that the original contract required ESPN to sell the Tier 3 broadcast rights to Raycom. This was orchestrated by Swofford, who's wife and son were both employees of Raycom. ESPN wants those Tier 3 rights back to use on the ACC Network. By rewriting a new contract with a new grant of rights(which FSU and Clemson will not sign off on) it will no longer bind FSU and Clemson. The deadline for ESPN to extend the current contract is Feb. of 2025. The only thing left would be to negotiate the exit fee, which per the ACC is 3 times their annual budget. This has no relationship to any actual damages caused by us leaving, but is a punitive fee which courts frown upon in contract disputes.

The ACC has a bad habit of making choices independently of the member schools while binding the schools to the choices.

It’ll really become clear once the law suits are completed and the courts decide what’s what. Until then, it’s nothing more than guessing and totally suggestive at best.

I can see for sure Florida State and Clemson out of the ACC by 2026, no later that 2027.

This is not news. We've known that ESPN has the only option to end the contract in 2027 but the ACC doesn't so they are locked in to 20-infinity

When all is said and done, Clemson and FSU are staying in the ACC. The ACC will not implode, and nobody from the ACC is going to the BIG 12.

Don’t tell Greg Flugaur this because he thinks he’s right all the time

Well dang you want to leave so bad and you cant even beat Tech. just saying. Maybe the ACC should sue FSU for that permormance yesterday????

At this rate, we'll be in the ACC until 2036. What good is a court order to turn over the important documents if they still get redacted?

If FSU and Clemson keep dragging their feet you can be sure ESPN will extend their contact and FSU will be stuck in a dieing conference!!!

Yeah I don't blame you I'm ready to move on I'm ready to move on and go to a new conference for Florida State and Clemson I'm just so sick and tired of hearing about FSU about FSU being upset with the ACC conference they've been upset for years now they found a loophole that they could get out of early and now the ACC wants to keep them in I don't think so that's not going to happen in Florida State said over their dead body.? @340_ISLANDBOI
