22 Classic Donzi with Arneson Surface drive

This is the first run with the new surface drive. Minor tuning needed but first impressions are great! Much more stable and comfortable, and I didn't think I would say it but its much smoother, very little vibration.

could you still water ski behind a surface drive? or would you get soaked? im wondering if you could ski slow enough before the prop comes out of the water.

Meat grinder. Reminds me of when I saw a guy get his leg hacked off with a standard outdrive. The boat operator backed up to him when he was in the water. Actually broke a blade off the wheel. His son saved his life, took off his belt and wrapped what was left.

Did you have a Bravo one the boat before the surface drive ? If so how many mph did you gain by changing the drive ?

Whats the point of a surface drive? Less drag im guessing? Or more stable at high speeds only?

Do these drives have 2 gears? It sounds like the boat starts out in lower gear then shifts before the drives are pulled out of the water. Or is the prop pitch variable?

That prop is 3' behind the boat. Be careful.
