Two Donzi 22 Classics go at it on a race on an inland lake in Michigan.
Boat no 1:
White 1996 Donzi 22 Classic equipped with a Mercury MerCruiser Blackhawk outdrive and a Mercury 500 EFI engine.
Boat no 2:
Teal 1989 Donzi 22 Classic equipped with a Mercury MerCruiser Bravo One outdrive and a Chevy Big Block 502-based, 625hp engine.
Both boats running somewhere between 79MPH and 83 MPH.

Location: Lake Oakland, Clarkston/Waterford, MI
A little history about the lake, at one point there were at least 15 Donzi's on the lake and many would race all at the same time. A combination of Sweet 16's, 18 and 22 Classics. Today, there is only 1 remaining with two others that trailer their boat's to the lake. Times have changed and the Classic race days are now behind us.

Its pretty cool you have a black Hawk drive it seems they are rather few and far between now days. I have a Black Hawk Donzi and I went up a big percentage in HP and everyone was telling me the original drive would not take that HP level so I sold it And went with an Alpha 1 and a sportsman lower. This year I am changing my K planes from 150s to 280s trying to get the boat to settle down a bit more at speed. Hopefully that works then I can start looking at spinning the blower a bit faster, more pitch in the prop and if I can load the engine a little then advance the timing and start running the Methanol injection system. Everything one step at a time!
I love the video of racing on the lake, unfortunately the lake I am on seems to frown upon stuff like that, to the point I dont even dare start my boat before 10:00 in the morning!
Great video and thanks for sharing!

The blackhawk drive was an amazing setup. Stays with the bravo boat even with less HP. Too bad the props etc were so expensive and the roost will drown a skier

Great video, very interesting

Pontoons have invaded Lake Oakland! Marty's teal 22 is badass for sure.
