So wild that everyone said that this couldn't be done on the N64 and it actually happened at the time.

The Sega Dreamcast version looks to be the best, it has the crispness of the PC version without the colour bleeding, and without the jaggy look of the PlayStation version and without the drab blurriness of the Nintendo 64 edition. Making the Dreamcast have the best aspects of all without the drawbacks of each, maybe the seamless project should use the Dreamcast code, as the Dreamcast version seems to have the best balance.

Honestly, it's a fucking miracle that they got this thing running on the N64.

Dreamcast for the character models and GameCube for the environment. None of them is perfect, but I think if they made another version with DC + GC graphics then it would be the best version.

Exelente video amigo!! Que juegazo!! Sin lugar a dudas, la versión de Dreamcast es la mejor por lejos!! Segundo puesto la de Gamecube!!

It's impressive to see such an old game with so much attention to detail, the bullet shell pops out the gun realistic and they drop on the environment accordingly.

My favorite version is the N64, best played with scanlines, this version along with the expansion pack used a dynamic resolution and will try to reach 480p, depending on how much zombies are on the screen at once. It also has surround sound, camera changes much faster and door animations are faster too.

It actually has z-buffered geometry and the characters and monsters are properly drawn without the wobble effect of the original version thanks to the N64 perspective correction feature.
There are exclusive outfits only to this version and its the most impressive data compression done in the history of video games.

Angel Studios squeezed more than 4gb of uncompressed video frames into a tiny 25mb of cart space left besides the audio, sfx sounds, textures and all the backgrounds, everything fitted on to a 64mb cartridge.

Which PC version is this?, the original PC version had the possibility to go full 640x480 internal resolution, it looked more similar to the GC version, it's weird looking at it with such low quality having in mind that it would be really noticeable on PC monitors of that era.

Dreamcast is the best version and the N64 is the most impressive port.

I've gotten a hold of the special edition for Dreamcast, and I'll never go back!

The N64 backgrounds are noticeably lower quality on modern screens, but the less jagged pixels of the system make the details on Leon pop out a lot more (at least when he's further away from the camera). It's definitely impressive for the system, although the audio is one downside thats hard to overlook compared to the PS1's CD audio

I love the N64 version mainly with the Randomizer Items (semi inspired by RE3s random items) and changing 3 color blood (mines was Green). Plus the EX files was a nice touch especially the inclusion of the dead Hunter in the lab. Obviously the FMV is compressed, but it’s mighty impressive on the 64 since most FMVs are mostly on CD games.

Though it severely lacks the Dual Shock extra Mercenaries mode, and thus the PSX and Dreamcast versions are my favorite.

I wish I knew about the Dreamcast version!
I like the Coding Secrets overview of the N64 version and how it fit on a cart.

What an amazing game thank you for the detailed comparison!

I wonder if the N64 version would have been used as a template for subsequent ports had the console used the CD format for its' games and included dedicated sound hardware like the PSX.

Dreamcast looks good but it's almost got this weird pinkish/reddish sheen on it. Gotta go GameCube.
