Alastor and Vox used to be friends in Hazbin Hotel

Throughout season 1 we learn about the rivalry between alastor and vox. During episode 8, the 3 vees think that alastor has died with them celebrating. Briefly we see a photograph from the past that shows alastor beside vox, though vox has tore it in half. This has some interesting implications.

Firstly it means that vox and alastor were best friends or business partners at some point. Fans are theorising that they were a couple, but alastor is aro ace which rules that out. In episode 2 alastor says vox asked him to join his team to which alastor declined and vox got angry.

It also means that at one point alastor allowed photographs of himself to be taken, and it also explains why alastor and vox have such similar appearances, since they were once pals.

We know that 7 years ago alastor and vox had a huge battle, with vox disappearing after. Perhaps alastor being locked into his mysterious contract forced him to fall out with vox. We’ll likely learn what happened in season 2.

The Vees never thought that Alastor died, they saw him running away from the fight. They knew he was injured and probably healing.

What I think happened is that Vox either asked out Alastor and got brutally rejected, or Vox was besties with Alastor but then met Val and tried to convince him to join the 2 of them, but al didn’t want to and then they became enemies

My theory is since, originally, tv used radio frequency to broadcast, Alastor was sort of a mentor to Vox. As digital TV became more popular this probably caused Vox to think he was better than Alastor and leads to their fall out.

Alastor did say old pal to Vox in episode 2 so there was probably a big fight between then that they went from friends to rivals

Alastor mentioned that Vox attempted to recruit him, but he refused. This photo might have been taken back when that was in progress.

If they were friends. It makes sense why they broke up. because alastor likes the past and things to stay the same. while vox likes to keep up with technology and improve.
