I review the JUNTEK PSG9080 DDS Programmable Signal Generator.

This was supplied to me at no cost for the purpose of review by JUNTEK.

I go through the menus systems and take a look at the PSG9080 features, I then hook up to some of my test gear and check its output level linearity and output frequency accuracy.

I then do a teardown and do some more electrical testing for things such as the BNC connector earthing, rear panel earthing, internal power supply voltage, rear power socket connection, and obviously have a close look at the PCB's.

I purchased the PSG9080. Nice color interface, full number keypad, easy to use, and properly grounded.

The dips are due to standing waves because you are using the 1Meg input on your scope. You should use 50 Ohms.

Hello. I have just purchased the PSG9060 model, model equipped with a Bluetooth card (Smart Module) to be connected to the TTL Ext port.
Do you know how to operate it from an android smartphone? My phone locates the card correctly but I cannot connect via applications downloaded from Google Play ...

well that amplitude deviation check starting at 26:30 should be done using a 50 ohm terminated input. otherwise reflections may interfere with the signal at certain frequencies and result in the amplitude being "unexpectedly" decreasing or increasing.
not that it was necessarily the case here, though, but not impossible.

You get my thumbs up even for another unboxing video! I am making a reaction video to your unboxing video right now ! JunTek they really need to fire their marketing manager. You know I’m a terrible brand snob but the functionality you get from modern test gear is simply unbelievable for someone like me who saved for more than a year to buy there first crappy scope. The slight standing voltage on the PSU is probably the RFI capacitor. Try doing the level test with a 50 ohm terminator at the high frequency your seeing a standing wave I think. Do the bumpers come always remove them from my gear. Also, I assume the front panel size is standard size per other gear?

That 21V is inevitable with a switcher. It is caused by the Y1 caps passing a tiny amount of 50Hz current. But it is behind a huge impedance, so although you may possibly feel a tiny tingle, it is not dangerous.

I bought two of this for my job (5-56 time cheaper then Keiysight). In gneral pretty good, however when I try to drive them synchronously thru single clock when first drive the other I got distortion in pulse wave output.
Additionally the BNC connectors on the back are not properly installed. They appear to short . The plastic mold is properly done just the holes are not properly cut out and the connector is too deep.

Has any body noticed a whistling noise from the power supply board when the unit is plugged in but turned off (Standby)? And also a fast clicking noise when powering up during the welcome screen?

Someone please show me a simple programming procedure, since I cannot figure out how to program it. I just want to generate a sine curve voltage and a rectangular curve voltage in this order.

Hello my friend, thank you first for your video but I am actually running into a big problem with this device when I updated its firmware from Juntek official website. After updating I received a successful message concerning the update process and after that the device went into a dead mode. No display nor anything else but only the On/Off power button in blue. Any idea on how to fix this problem?

Hi. How about BNC outputs ground? Are they separated or common ground between channels?

Hello, I wanted to ask if the JUNTEK PSG9080 generator can be programmed where the sequence of various signals is programmed in the FUNC tab so that SWEEP, VCO and modulation work?

Nice product review.
Only very amazed by your scope comment of those not being calibrated and such. I'd like to see the real input values when I use a scoop. Taking into account that from certain price points the accuracy gets better.

I just got a Juntek PSG9080 and noticed that I cannot change the amplitude with the Ampl. control. I have to change the Offset to get the amplitude to change. Is that normal?

I ended up accidentally shorting the channel 1 output and the generator will no longer turn on. I tested the power supply and it is still working as expected, beyond that I am unaware of what the issue can be.
Anyone have any advice for troubleshooting?

Doesn't help that all the part numbers are impossible to read

Hi! I did not find in the description of the device the function of setting the output amplitudes depending on the load resistance. for example High Z mode as in Rigol generators. is there such a possibility in this device?

Can you please tell me what what is minimum frequency resolution on the 60 MHz range and how stable is it? For example, can one set it to 60, 000, 003.027 Hz. I have an application where high frequency accuracy and stability are required. Thanks in advance.
