WOW we use this to weld, a skill we are learning in our micro machining operation, so this is great video for us as generally we have to go and search details from these videos to learn even more expansive details through research for the elements, but this time we know this one we use this one we like and we enjoy Argon.
Even this shared video we did not know about the uses in Argon beyond our welding training, so we are always learning here.

Argon TIG welding has gotten relatively affordable by hobbyists. Thanks to IGBTs and cheap Chinese electronics you can get a welder for < $1000. Add in an argon tank and you're into aluminum welding for < $1500.

"amateurs rarely buy such expensive gear." TIG welding equipment isn't particularly expensive these days. a complete setup, including a bottle of argon, can be acquired for under $1000USD

I used to have a GE AR-1 argon glow bulb. It had an E26 or E27 medium screw base, and was designed to be operated from 120VAC mains power with no need for an external ballast resistor.

The two half moon-shaped electrodes generated a purple glow; however the primary application of this lamp was as a source of UVA radiation; the lamp has several significant spectral features between 300nm and 370nm.

Argon plasma is used in some gastro intestinal electro-surgery, its like a bright steam of plasma that can cauterize.  Sometimes called Argon diathermy.
