Something makes me think Stark is the destined hero. Remember the demon Frieren had commit suicide with her mana aura? She hunted down the bloodline that could resist the scale’s power. In the flashback I think they had red hair like him (it’s been a hot minute since I saw the episode). Stark never went up against her so it was never tested
